Doing our part to support New Haven's COVID-19 vaccination program

AT&T donates to support critical step in the fight against the pandemic.

Dear Friend,

Over the past year, COVID-19 has impacted the lives of everyone in Connecticut, which is why the start of vaccinations is a critical step in the fight against the pandemic.

On Monday, December 28, 2020 I joined New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker, Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz, and New Haven’s public safety and public health officials to announce the start to the City’s COVID-19 vaccination campaign.

From L to R: AT&T New England President John Emra,
New Haven Fire Chief John Alston, Jr.

It was an honor to witness some of the City’s top healthcare and public safety officials, including New Haven Public Health Director Maritza Bond and New Haven Fire Chief John Alston, Jr., be among the first to receive the vaccine.

The first 5,000 people vaccinated in New Haven will receive a “COVID-19 Vaccinated” lapel pin, made possible through a donation from AT&T. We are so pleased to be a part of the City of New Haven’s effort to bring awareness about the need to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

The Stamford Advocate called the pins “badges of honor” in an editorial, which can be found here. We agree. As first responders, healthcare workers and seniors begin to receive the vaccination, it is important to highlight and thank them for their service and for “Answering the Call” to be vaccinated. In this way, we hope others are encouraged to follow their lead when the opportunity arises.

The public in New Haven can access more detailed information about the vaccine at the City’s COVID-19 website.

I’m grateful to Mayor Elicker and everyone at the City of New Haven for including AT&T in this small way.

And from everyone at AT&T Connecticut, we wish you a Happy – and Healthy – New Year.

John Emra is the president of AT&T New England.
